Bankrupt Kitty
October 17, 2007I’ve never had a pet before. Well, at least not one I picked out and really considered my own. So I really never understood people when they’d get all emotional over their animals. Come on. It’s a dog or cat. I’m not saying that I’ve changed my perspective since I inherited this cat 6 years ago, but I understand a little better now. Cupcake is kind of like a favorite piece of furniture in the house. She’s cute. You take care of her, and she’s always there. It’s not like she can talk, although she sure does make a lot noise. You just get used to her being there.
Well, Ms. Cupcake went to another vet today. She yelled at me the whole drive over there. Unfortunately it was out in Tempe, so the drive was an hour and a half. I thought she’d lose her voice before we got to Phoenix. The girls at the vet were so nice to her. She was instantly quiet as soon as we got there, and she was good for them. When Tracy showed me her x-rays, the only thing I could think of was, “how did they get her to lie still like that on her back?” She was a happy camper and slept the whole way home.
So Cupcake needs some surgery to remove two tumors, and of course the cost of that will far out-cost the money I spent on my own surgery last year 3 fold. I guess that’s the difference between health insurance and being a cat. So I’m going to start calling her bankrupt kitty from now on. I’m sure she doesn’t care what I call her as long as I don’t lock her up in the kennel cab again anytime soon.
